THE THORN IN YOUR FLESH

I don’t know a single thorn that feels good to the touch. They hurt. They bring pain. It’s always a great idea to be careful when thorns are around. Nobody wants to get pricked by them!

Let’s consider Apostle Paul for a sec. In 2 Corinthians 12:7-9, it states:

To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.—NIV

There was something going on with Apostle Paul that was causing an issue for him. So much of an issue that he pleaded with God to take it away. Instead of taking it away, God told him that His power was being made perfect in him through his weakness. God knew that whatever it was that was affecting Paul, it was causing him to become even stronger in God. God could use Him mightily in this state. His state was a place of affliction that caused him to remain humble in his purpose.

I would like to pose a question to you. What is it that you feel is going on in your life that seems like a thorn in your flesh? No matter what, the issue still is there. The problem just won’t seem to go away….well not yet anyway. The door still hasn’t been opened. The resolution still hasn’t been made. It’s still there, and you’ve been praying and fasting about it, but God still hasn’t moved. Well, that thing that you look at as a problem is really the thing that’s pushing you to your purpose! What seems like a thorn is really something that’s preparing you for your next level, and just like Paul, God will use it to keep you meek and humble, always seeking Him and learning to trust Him like never before.

So, even if this thorn finds its resolution, even if you get to a breakthrough, an open door, etc….know that there will always be another thorn to replace the last thorn. It may not come immediately, but it will come. Just remember, when it comes, it’s there to prepare you for your next level, to push you towards your destiny, while at the same time causing you to trust and believe God. What you look at as a problem, is actually pushing you to your destiny! #Selah
