Growing Pains are R-E-A-L

Apr 25, 2025

Have you ever wanted to tap out when you were going through something? Listen.. I have been THAT girl! Ok! Forget everybody and everything! LOL!... When tests and trials come, they bring frustration... they can bring hard times... they can bring situations that we simply don't want to handle. But let me tell you something... if you are experiencing this... know that it's the beginning of growing pains. It's the beginning of something new that God wants you to tap into. But first... you must go through so that you can get to! 😬

Here are a few things that growing pains do:

1. Growing Pains Teach Us Endurance

Painful seasons stretch our faith and build perseverance.

Scripture: “Consider it pure joy... whenever you face trials... because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” — James 1:2-4

Spiritual growth doesn't happen in comfort zones.

2. They Produce Character and Hope

Pain refines our character and roots our hope in Christ.

Scripture: “Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” — Romans 5:3-5

God is more interested in your development than your comfort.

3. They Remind Us of God's Discipline and Love

Growth often involves correction, which is a sign of God's love.

Scripture: “The Lord disciplines the one He loves... No discipline seems pleasant at the time... but it produces a harvest of righteousness.” — Hebrews 12:6-11

Growing pains may come through conviction, correction, or uncomfortable stretching.

4. They Humble Us and Keep Us Dependent on God

Pain reminds us that we need God daily.

Scripture: “...there was given me a thorn in my flesh... to keep me from becoming conceited... My grace is sufficient for you...” — 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

God allows some pains to keep us grounded and focused on Him.

5. They Prepare Us for Greater Responsibility

Promotion comes after proving. Painful preparation precedes powerful purpose.

Scripture: “After you have suffered a little while, God... will restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” — 1 Peter 5:10

Joseph endured years of “growing pains” before being positioned for purpose.

6. They Increase Compassion and Ministry Capacity

What we go through becomes fuel for how we help others.

Scripture: “...the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble...” — 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Your growth journey isn’t just for you—it’s also for others.
